SR-71 Blackbird Flown Titanium 2-Sided Acrylic 6x8 Relic Display by Ron Cole
$250.00
Special 2024 Holiday limited edition release!
Everybody wants to own an authentic piece of one of the greatest aircraft that has ever flown, and one of the most amazing engineering marvels of all time. Artist and designer Ron Cole has combined flown titanium pieces of skin from this specific Blackbird (s/n 59-1474) with his original artwork and full description of this aircraft's history in these 6x8-inch two-sided gem-like acrylic displays. Each is signed and numbered.
History of this SR-71 (s/n 59-1474):
This aircraft was lost on 17 June 1970 following a re-fueling collision with a KC-135Q (59-1474) tanker. Lt. Col. Buddy L. Brown and his RSO Maj. Mortimer J. Jarvis both ejected and survived the crash. The KC-135 made it back to Beale AFB, California with a damaged refueling boom and aft fuselage. Super Skater crashed into the desert. These pieces were recovered from the crash site in June 2013 by Zane Harwell, from whom these parts were directly obtained. The vast majority of the aircraft was removed from the site by the government in 1970, but these few pieces of wreckage remained.
Ron Cole handmakes each of these displays in his Zanesville, Ohio studio. Each piece of SR-71 titanium is cut and finished by hand (see video), careful to preserve original finish, rivets, stamps, or other unique characteristics.
The process does take some time, so get your order in as soon as possible for guaranteed Holiday delivery.
