Special Russian Il-2 Shturmovik 24x18 Bullet Hole Patch Relic Display

Special one-of-a-kind 24x18-inch wall-hanging display that combines this very rare 8x11-inch section of aluminum skin with a field-applied bullet-hole patch from this Il-2 Shturmiovik 'White 6' lost in action in 1941.

More Il-2s were produced than any other combat aircraft in the history of aviation, due to its effectiveness against the advancing German army in 1941. This Il-2, 'White 6' of the 4th ShAP, was a very early produced version of the Shturmovik that was thrown against Hitler's Wehrmacht in late June and early July 1941. Few of these early, single seats, aircraft were built, and most were lost in the first weeks of the war on the Eastern Front - including 'White 6'. Having suffered battle damage, then repaired, and lost in action, this aircraft certainly saw a great deal of combat early in the conflict.

These pieces of this aircraft were acquired directly from Russia in 2019.

This display is signed 1 of 1. The artwork dimensions are 24x18-inches. Giclee on matte canvas.
