German V-1 Fi 103 Flying 'Buzz Bomb' Relic Display by Ron Cole

Own a piece of Germany's desperate last stand of the Second World War: 

The V-1 flying bomb—Vergeltungswaffe 1, or “Vengeance Weapon 1”—was the world’s first operational cruise missile. Officially designated the Fieseler Fi 103, it was also called the Höllenhund (“hellhound”) by the Germans and became known to the Allies as the “buzz bomb” or “doodlebug” because of the distinctive sound of its pulsejet engine. Developed by the Luftwaffe at Peenemünde in 1942, the V-1 was the first of Germany’s V-weapons deployed in the terror bombing of London. The attacks began on 13 June 1944, one week after the Allied landings in Normandy. A total of 9,521 V-1s were launched against southeastern England from sites in France and the Netherlands or from modified Heinkel He 111 aircraft. As Allied forces advanced and overran these launch sites, the campaign shifted to Antwerp and other Belgian targets, against which another 2,448 V-1s were launched. 

This special relic display combines Ron Cole’s original artwork with an authentic fragment of aluminum from this V-1’s rudder. Excavated near Antwerp during the 1990s, it is a tangible remnant of the campaign that continued until the final launch site in the Low Countries was captured on 29 March 1945.

Each wall-hanging display is 8.5x11-inches (artwork size), signed & numbered 1 - 50, and includes detailed description and COA on the reverse.
