P-40E Warhawk in Captured Japanese Markings

P-40E Warhawk in Captured Japanese Markings.

This aircraft was among those that were brought into the Philippines after Pearl Harbor; through the Japanese-enforced blockade of the islands. It was painted colorfully by its ground crew as an homage to the Flying Tigers, but was captured intact by advancing Japanese forces before it saw much action. It was later evaluated by both the Japanese Army and Navy.
