Bell P-39Q Airacobra South Pacific Theater Relic Display

Authentic fragment from Bell P-39Q-5-BE (serial number 42-19995) Airacobra, assigned to the 110th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, Tadji, Papua New Guinea, 1944. Flown by Lt. William Shomo. This aircraft was nicknamed 'Snooks 2nd' and 'Betty Lou 3rd' after the wives of the crew chief's two brothers.
This, and several other P-39s, were recovered from Tadji in 1974 by Charles Darby, after which they were shuffled among several owners, shedding parts along the way, until properly restored in 2007.
Each 1.5 x 1.5 inch piece of exterior aluminum skin retains most of its original olive drab camouflage paint - very well preserved!
This piece comes in an 8.5 x 11 inch frame as pictured - ready to hang!
