B-24D Liberator 'Juicy Lucy' (serial number 42-40074) of the 7th Air Force (11th BG, 31st BS) in the South Pacific. These early Liberators differed significantly from their European counterparts, being field modified by their squadrons in unique ways. 'Juicy Lucy' had a tail turret on its nose, and extra windows cut into her fuselage. She's depicted early in her Pacific career in this painting.
