F-14 Tomcat (BuNo 161162) VF-32 'Swordsmen' Aluminum Skin Relic Display by Ron Cole
$320.00
At last! I'm able to offer these in-demand F-14 Tomcat flown-relic displays from an identifiable Tomcat: BuNo 161162 of VF-32 'Swordsmen'!
This F-14A was built by Grumman at Calverton, New York in 1970 as Construction Number 389, BuNo 161162, and taken on strength with the United States Navy at NARF North Island, California with VF-32, USS Independence, markings added AE-214. While flying at night in the Caribbean on August 12, 1983, this aircraft suffered an engine failure and was the first Tomcat to successfully accomplish an 'engine out night trap' landing and was returned to service. After a long career with VF-32 and, later, VF-101, this F-14 was struck off strength on April 4, 2000 - flying almost 20 years!
This section of aluminum is original to this aircraft and well-marked with its part number and the BuNo 161162. It was part of this aircraft's starboard lower wing (see photos).
Ron Cole has combined these documented pieces of this Tomcat with his original artwork of '214' intercepting a Soviet Tu-95 'Bear' during the Cold War.
Very limited to 75 signed & numbered 13x19-inch framed wall-hanging displays - each hand built in Zanesville, Ohio.
