F-14 Tomcat Early (1981) Flown Aluminum Skin Relic Display by Ron Cole
F-14 Tomcat Early (1981) Flown Aluminum Skin Relic Display by Ron Cole
$300.00
The wait is over for this most-requested aviation relic display in Cole's Aircraft history!
I was twelve years old when, in 1982, I first visited Top Gun. That was before the original film with Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer was released. Dad used his IBM credentials to get us on base. Tomcats everywhere. Garishly painted 'Aggressor' F-5s - no two alike. In late afternoon the aircraft returned to Miramar from the day's training in the desert. Whichever aircraft led the way, Tomcat or Aggressor, revealed who had 'killed' who. I vividly remember tracking one F-5 with my big-lensed camera on final approach, and right before he touched down, he snaprolled and planted it hard, like the Navy hot shot he surely was!
After searching for years, I finally acquired good F-14 Tomcat parts to offer in displays with my artwork (literally finished twenty minutes ago). These are really terrific pieces dated 1981 and still bearing that early gloss sea gray paint we knew - before everything went 'low vis' and dull.
I'm only able to offer about 50 of these in wall-hanging 11x17-inch displays (size of the artwork, 13x19 overall).
