John F. Kennedy Air Force One VC-137 Matchbook Relic Display by Ron Cole
John F. Kennedy Air Force One VC-137 Matchbook Relic Display by Ron Cole
$200.00
John F. Kennedy’s VC-137C ‘SAM 26000’ - known by its call sign ‘Air Force One’ - was the first official presidential aircraft in U.S. history, and its now iconic livery was designed by JFK and French designer Raymond Loewy. Kennedy saw Air Force One as an important part of his administration’s brand, and attended to many details, including the exclusive ‘Aboard the Presidential Aircraft’ matchbooks (LEFT) that were only available on his aircraft. These matchbooks were aboard during his flight to Dallas, Texas on November 22nd, 1963. Several original boxes were obtained by the National Museum of the United States Air Force in 2019 and were acquired by Ron Cole in 2021.
These matchbooks were of the highest quality, true to the Kennedy tradition, with gold high relief text and the presidential seal on the reverse. Each is attached to the display so as to be removable, and not damage the matchbook itself.
Signed & numbered by the artist. 13 x 19-inches framed and ready to hang.
