Russian Il-2 Shturmovik Operation Barbarossa Combat Loss Relic Display

Own an authentic aluminum skin fragment from the famous Ilyushin Il-2 of the Soviet Air Force, combined with Ron Cole's original painting of this specific aircraft in action, in an 11 x 17-inch ready to hang framed display.

More Il-2s were produced than any other combat aircraft in the history of aviation, due to its effectiveness against the advancing German army in 1941. This Il-2, 'White 6' of the 4th ShAP, was a very early produced version of the Shturmovik that was thrown against Hitler's Wehrmacht in late June and early July 1941. The fuselage panel from which these pieces were cut bears its early camouflage and original markings. Few of these early, single seat, aircraft were built, and most were lost in the first weeks of the war on the Eastern Front - including 'White 6'.

These pieces of this aircraft were acquired directly from Russia in 2019.

Each 11 x 17-inch display is signed and numbered - only 1 of 30.

Each aluminum fragment is unique, and bears very well-preserved original paint - either pale green or blue/black, or both. All parts are comparable in quality, though the best pieces will be included on the first displays sold.
