Very rare and unusual field-camouflaged fabric souvenired by Lt. Col. George B. Jarrett during his service in the Mediterranean Theater during World War II from North American B-25J-NA Mitchell.
This material, well-preserved for 80 years, shows the factory-applied silver doped linen that covered the control surfaces of this B-25, and the light overspray of olive drab camouflage that was very often applied in that theater during the war to dull the otherwise bright finish of these aircraft.
The artwork:
'Finito Benito Next Hirohito' was a B-25J-25-NA assigned to the 12th Bomb Group in early 1944. The Group was transferred from the 12th Air Force in the Mediterranean to the 10th Air Force in India in March 1944. The name reflects the change in Theater assignment. It was painted in red on the upper surfaces of the wings, as opposed to the usual placement on the nose of the airplane.
11x17 inches (artwork size) framed and ready to hang. Very limited supply of this linen, but I'm offering large pieces with these displays - 1.25x3.5-inches. Series is set at 75 but will probably sell out at around 45 or 50.
